"east meets the west"

An unforgettable fight of the TWO unbelievable boxers:

Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao vs. Ricky “Hitman” Hatton/ East meets West fight/ May 3, 2009

By. Billy and Pin dela Fuente

Billy and I woke up early of May 3, 2009 around 7:00am and went straight to Crowne Plaza Manila to watch the most awaited fight of our very own

Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao vs. Ricky “Hitman” Hatton. As we enter the grand ballroom of the hotel, a lot of Filipinos were already

waiting. The good thing is buffet breakfast is served as part of the pack

age. Hooray!!!At 10:45am, the boxers were introduced: Ricky Hatton has been one of Britain’s most successful sportsmen for years and Manny Pacquiao has the people’s champ from the Philippines. Pacquiao is the most entertaining current boxer in my opinion because of his lightning quick style. He comes at other boxers without fear, and that is certainly something to watch. Hatton has a stellar record with only his recent loss to Floyd Mayweather tainting his career. Pacquiao is used to fighting smaller guys, having risen through the weight classes to where he is now. His fight, if it can be called that, against De La Hoya was his first at light welterweight. Meanwhile Hatton has been fighting consistently around 140 his entire career. This should be a great matchup of two tough fighters.

Everybody inside the grand ballroom is cheering every time the camera focuses on Manny. To our dismay, the whole match lasted for merely less than 10 minutes. Manny Pacquiao beats Ricky Hatton via technical knockout in the second round in MGM Grand Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada, snatching the light welterweight crown and carving his name as one of the legends in boxing history. Pacquiao cemented his claim to being the best pound-for-pound boxer Saturday night with a spectacular performance that ended with Hatton sprawled out on the canvas after a devastating left hand to the head late in the second round. Pacquiao is now the new IBO Light-Welterweight Champion of the world!

“With one ferocious blow from Manny Pacquiao, Ricky Hatton’s amazing career is laid to rest...”

Cheers flooded the place and the spectacular view of seeing Filipinos unite for a very special occasion is simply priceless! Go Manny!!!
